Zelenskyy's advisor on Kellogg's plan: Failure unless it's more than ceasefire and elections
Yesterday, Trump's special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, said that the United States wants Kyiv to hold elections in the country by the end of the year, especially if there is a truce with Russia. However, this plan is a failure, says Dmytro Lytvyn, Ukraine's presidential communications advisor.
"In response to Reuters' question regarding Mr. Kellogg's remarks on the ceasefire and elections - We haven’t seen Mr. Kellogg’s full interview, only a few quotes about the elections, so it’s hard to fully assess his position. But if his plan is just a ceasefire and elections, it is a failed plan - Putin won’t be intimidated by just those two things," Lytvyn wrote.
He noted that Moscow continues to increase the production of missiles and ammunition, as well as find new ways to circumvent sanctions and make money from oil. And all these weapons are not created to respect democratic neighbors.
Lytvyn added that the military alliance between Russia and North Korea "is clearly not about respecting a ceasefire". He added that Ukraine would like to see a "more in-depth approach from officials of key partners," of our country.
"But we remember that President Trump, in his meetings with President Zelenskyy, spoke deeply and wisely about the situation and what could actually pressure Putin. That’s why it’s important to move quickly to real work between teams on a concrete plan to end the war and ensure lasting peace," the advisor to President Zelenskyy summarized.
In an earlier interview with Fox News, Keith Kellogg did not rule out that the end of the war in Ukraine could be achieved in months, not years. According to him, there is already a “solid plan” for this.
