The US may have deliberately withheld early warnings about massive Russian missile strikes on Ukraine that resulted in deaths and widespread power outages, CBS News reports.

According to the outlet, during Tuesday's massive attack, when Russia launched dozens of ballistic missiles and drones at Kyiv and Kharkiv, Ukraine received no warnings from its partners.

According to sources, US officials claimed that the launch detection system had allegedly failed due to "bad weather."

However, the Ukrainian side rejected this explanation.

When Russia launched another strike the following night, the US early warning system began working again.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized Russia's blatant disrespect and called on the US to respond firmly.

Amid the escalating situation, Ukrainian military personnel reported disruptions to Starlink terminals operated by Elon Musk's company.

According to Ukraine's Defense Ministry, on the night of October 14, SpaceX unilaterally restricted the operation of military Starshield terminals while in motion, complicating UAV missions and logistics.

Previously, US President Donald Trump's administration had threatened to suspend intelligence sharing and halt weapons purchases through the PURL system unless Ukraine stopped its deep strikes on Russian energy infrastructure.

Trump himself stated that Washington continues to help Kyiv and is working to end the war.

Recently, Russia carried out one of its largest aerial attacks on Ukrainian regions, attempting to exploit problems with Starlink terminals, as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated.

In particular, during the massive strike, Russia attacked Ukraine with 145 drones, a significant portion of which were jet-powered UAVs, according to Yurii Ihnat, head of the Communications Department of the Ukrainian Air Force Command.

Ukrainian air defenses successfully destroyed more than 100 enemy drones during the attack.
