US loses another fighter jet in the Red Sea within a week

American aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman loses second fighter jet in a week. This time, Houthis are not involved, informs CNN.
It is noted that an F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet stationed on the aircraft carrier disappeared in the Red Sea. This is already the second such incident in just over a week.
It occurred during a landing on the carrier. Preliminary reports indicate a technical malfunction, which forced the pilot and weapons systems officer to eject. Both servicemen were picked up by a rescue helicopter; they survived and did not sustain serious injuries.
The fighter jet fell into the sea. Its location has not yet been determined. An official investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Earlier, on Tuesday, May 6, Houthi militants from Yemen shelled the USS Harry S. Truman. The attack happened despite a ceasefire announcement made by US President Donald Trump just a few hours prior. It is currently unknown whether the two incidents are related.
On April 29, another F/A-18 fighter fell overboard from the carrier during a sharp maneuver made to evade enemy fire.
The cost of one F/A-18 Super Hornet exceeds $60 million.
