A scandal has erupted in the US following media reports that American strikes failed to destroy Iran’s nuclear program. Intelligence officials believe such rumors are aimed at undermining the authority of President Donald Trump, according to US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard on Twitter (X).

According to Gabbard, new intelligence confirms that the Iranian nuclear facilities targeted by the US were destroyed. She clarified that if the Iranians decide to rebuild them, "they would have to rebuild all three facilities (Natanz, Fordow, Esfahan) entirely, which would likely take years to do."

"The propaganda media has deployed their usual tactic: selectively release portions of illegally leaked classified intelligence assessments (intentionally leaving out the fact that the assessment was written with 'low confidence') to try to undermine President Trump’s decisive leadership," the Director of National Intelligence added.

She emphasized that the US strikes on Iran were a "historic mission to keep the American people safe and secure."

Rumors in the media

CNN and The New York Times, citing US intelligence, previously reported that the American strikes did not completely destroy Iran’s nuclear program.

These materials released the information following President Trump’s claims that all Iranian nuclear facilities targeted by the US had suffered "monumental damage."

The US leader repeatedly stated that the sites targeted by American forces had been destroyed.

Responding to the rumors spread by journalists, Trump said they were trying to downplay one of the most successful strikes in history.
