US imposes new massive sanctions on Iran
The US Department of the Treasury imposed sanctions on Iran’s oil and petrochemical sectors following Tehran's massive missile strike against Israel, according to the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury.
The restrictions target ten entities across several jurisdictions. Additionally, sanctions were imposed on 17 vessels for their involvement in the operations of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), which has previously faced US sanctions.
Furthermore, the US Department of State sanctioned six entities and six vessels for knowingly participating in the sale and transportation of oil and petroleum products from Iran.
It is noted that these sanctions are aimed at a significant portion of the shadow tanker fleet and illicit operators involved in exporting oil on behalf of the Iranian regime.
Iran's massive attack on Israel
In early October, Iran launched approximately 200 missiles at Israel.
The attack followed the Israeli military's elimination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and senior Hamas military official Saeed Attallah Ali in Lebanon.
Additionally, Israel recently killed Adham Jahout, a liaison between Hezbollah and Syria.
Sanctions against Iran
In early September, the US imposed new sanctions on Iran for supplying ballistic missiles to Russia.
Iran has firmly denied providing Russia with these weapons.
