Israel announces elimination of key Hezbollah liaison
Israel has announced the elimination of another Hezbollah leader, Adham Jahout, who served as a liaison between Hezbollah and Syria, according to the Israel Defense Forces.
On Wednesday, October 9, the Israeli army carried out an airstrike in the Quneitra region of Syria, killing Adham Jahout, a member of the Golan Terrorist Network within Hezbollah.
According to the IDF, Jakhout provided Hezbollah with intelligence from Syrian regime sources and facilitated operations against Israel in the Golan Heights.
The Golan Heights were Syrian territory until 1967. During the Six-Day War, they were captured by Israel and later annexed, though the annexation is not recognized by most countries worldwide.
Elimination of Hamas and Hezbollah leaders
In July, Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in Tehran. He had traveled to the Iranian capital for the inauguration of the new President.
In September, Israel launched an airstrike on Beirut, killing Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Following this, the Israeli army eliminated other leaders of the group, with Israel's Prime Minister announcing the elimination of two successors to the Hezbollah leader.
In response, Iran promised retaliation against Israel for the elimination of the leadership of both groups. On October 1, Iran launched a massive missile strike on Israel, but the attack was repelled.
