The Israeli army conducted a series of airstrikes on Lebanon, resulting in the deaths of two successors of the previously eliminated leader of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, states Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Prime Minister released a video recording a few hours after the deputy leader of Hezbollah announced open doors for negotiations regarding a ceasefire, following a series of Israeli assassinations of senior commanders.

"We've degraded Hezbollah's capabilities. We took out thousands of terrorists, including (Hassan) Nasrallah himself and Nasrallah's replacement, and the replacement of the replacement. Today, Hezbollah is weaker than it has been for many, many years," Netanyahu stated, without naming the two recent figures.

The agency noted that it was not immediately clear whom the Prime Minister referred to as the successor's successor, as reports in recent days mentioned the likely assassination of only one of Nasrallah's successors, Hashem Safieddine.

Israel's operation against Hezbollah

Since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza in October 2023, the Iran-backed Islamic group Hezbollah in Lebanon has begun launching rockets and drones at northern Israel. In response, the IDF has been striking areas in southern Lebanon.

On October 1, the Israeli army initiated a ground military operation against terrorists in southern Lebanon, aiming to push militants away from the Israeli borders.

On September 27, Israel carried out an airstrike in Beirut, resulting in the elimination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was at the group's central headquarters at the time of the attack.

The terrorists appointed Hashem Safieddine as the new leader of the group. However, last week, he may have also been killed in an Israeli army strike.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that Safieddine was likely eliminated in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut. There has been no official confirmation of this information yet.
