Hezbollah may have lost its new leader, Hashem Safieddine. He may have been killed in Israeli airstrikes, stated Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

According to Gallant, Hashem Safieddine could have been killed during the attack on Beirut that took place last week.

"Hezbollah is an organization without a leader, Nasrallah was eliminated, his replacement was probably also eliminated. This has a dramatic effect on everything that happens. There is no one to make decisions, no one to act," emphasized Gallant.

He further noted that, in addition to the elimination of leaders, the group's firepower has also been significantly weakened.

Gallant stressed that the actions of Israel are currently being monitored across the entire Middle East.

"When the smoke in Lebanon clears, they will realize in Iran that they have lost their most valuable asset, which is Hezbollah," added the Minister.

Background

On September 27, Israel conducted an airstrike on Beirut, which resulted in the elimination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. At the time of the attack, he was at the group's central headquarters.

Just a few days later, Hezbollah decided to announce Hashem Safieddine as its new leader.

On October 5, the media reported that the new Hezbollah leader had been killed as a result of another Israeli strike on Beirut.
