Vance says only Ukrainians will determine their own borders

The US has reaffirmed that the final determination of Ukraine's borders will remain solely under the authority of its citizens, US Vice President J.D. Vance said on NBC News' Meet the Press.
Vice President J.D. Vance said the ultimate decision on Ukraine's borders rests with the Ukrainian people.
"The Ukrainians are going to ultimately make the determination about where you draw the territorial lines in their own country," he emphasized.
Russia aims to seize Ukrainian territories
Recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin seeks to repeat the Crimea scenario. Putin is reportedly trying to trade a pause in the war for the retention of occupied territories.
Ukraine, according to Zelenskyy, is preparing a response to prevent the country from being divided.
Zelenskyy also stressed that Ukraine will not give up its territories. He noted that the answer to this question is enshrined in the Constitution.
According to The Wall Street Journal, European countries and Ukraine have presented a plan to end the war that rejects any Russian claims on Ukrainian territory. The plan demands an unconditional ceasefire from the Kremlin before starting peace negotiations.
Czechia supports Ukraine's path to a just peace on Ukrainian terms and emphasized that Russia has no right to make decisions regarding the process.
