US President's Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, says in an interview with Fox News that a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia is possible by the end of the year.

“We're hopeful that by the end of this year, we actually... or actually quit a bit sooner... we actually can find the ingredients to get that peace deal,” Witkoff said, referring to territorial issues, security guarantees for Ukraine, etc.

Peace agreement on Ukraine

Ukraine advocates establishing a ceasefire regime, and only after that, beginning the discussion of a possible peace agreement.

The key elements of a future peace agreement on Ukraine may include the definition of borders, security guarantees, and the reconstruction of the country.

Ukraine has clearly outlined its red lines and does not agree to any territorial concessions. Among other mandatory conditions are the return of abducted children and civilians, as well as clear security guarantees.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump suggested that a potential peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine could provide for a territorial exchange. However, Zelenskyy firmly rejected the possibility of any territorial concessions.

Meanwhile, Britain is ready to support the idea of concluding a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine without a prior ceasefire.

Witkoff will hold a meeting this week in New York with the Ukrainian delegation. The parties will discuss the next stage of ending the war.
