US Envoy Witkoff might step down from Middle East role – Times of Israel

US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff is likely to resign at the end of the year, according to the Times of Israel.
Since the beginning of Trump's presidency, Witkoff has been negotiating a ceasefire in Gaza as a special government official. His term of office is currently about 130 days, and a possible extension will depend on circumstances and the need to organize further diplomatic work.
According to the agency's source, Witkoff himself is already preparing to end his mission by the end of the year, especially given the possible progress in resolving the conflict.
Witkoff's office team has begun looking for new job opportunities. This may indicate that if an agreement on Gaza is reached, he is ready to end his mission with an honorable resignation.
Israel and Gaza
Earlier, Politico, citing sources, wrote that US President Donald Trump, during a meeting with Arab leaders, promised that he would not allow Israel to annex the West Bank.
But yesterday in Washington, a new 20-point peace plan for the Gaza Strip was presented, aimed at ending the protracted conflict between Israel and Hamas.
