US Embassy condemns Russian strikes on Kyiv and recalls Trump’s position

The US Embassy in Ukraine condemned the Russian strikes on Kyiv on the night of August 28 and recalled the words of US President Donald Trump about the responsibility of both sides to make efforts toward a negotiated settlement, according to the US Embassy.
The Embassy stressed that attacks on civilian targets are unacceptable and must be stopped immediately.
"We extend our deepest condolences to the victims and their families. When it comes to this war, President Trump has been clear—the killing must stop, and both sides must invest in a negotiated solution," the statement says.
Massive strike on Kyiv
On the night of August 28, Russian forces carried out a large-scale combined attack on Kyiv, using Shahed drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles.
According to Yurii Ihnat, spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, this was one of the largest attacks on the capital.
The overnight attack caused destruction across all districts of Kyiv - something that has happened for the first time since the beginning of the full-scale war.
In particular, in the Darnytskyi district, a missile hit a five-story residential building. One section of the building was completely destroyed, with the strike hitting between the third and fourth floors, causing extensive damage.
According to the latest reports, 21 people were killed in the attack on Kyiv.
