US doesn't want to hear about Ukraine's pre-war borders in talks - Sky News

Negotiations between the Ukrainian and American delegations began in Jeddah. The US still wants to see what concessions Kyiv can make, according to Sky News.
“It looks like the Ukrainians are going to have to make some fairly painful concessions, but the hope is when these talks finish, we will see and understand what the shape of a ceasefire,” a Sky News correspondent said.
Privately, US officials have said they “don't want to hear” about any demands from Ukraine to return the country's borders to 2014 (before Russia occupied Crimea and parts of Donbas) or 2022 (before Russia's full-scale invasion).
The Center for Countering Disinformation of Ukraine has already stated that the information that "during the negotiation process in Saudi Arabia, the issue of Ukraine's possible return to the borders that existed before the start of Russia's military aggression was excluded" is not true.
“This issue was not raised at all,” the Center for Countering Disinformation said.
Negotiations between the delegations of Ukraine and the United States began in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Before the talks, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that as part of a peace agreement, Ukraine would have to cede the occupied territories to Russia.
In the fall of 2024, 32% of Ukrainians believed that to achieve peace and preserve independence as soon as possible, Ukraine could give up some of its territories. At the same time, the majority (58%) opposed any territorial concessions to Russia.
At the same time, 63% of Ukrainians are ready to endure the war for as long as it takes.
