US discussing long-term goals of operation in Kursk region with Ukraine - Pentagon
US officials are discussing with their Ukrainian counterparts the long-term goals of the operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region, stated Pentagon spokesman, Air Force Brigadier General Pat Ryder.
The journalist asked Ryder whether the United States was ready to openly support Ukraine's operation in the Kursk region. And if not, why.
Ryder said that the Pentagon continues to discuss the objectives of the operation with Ukraine. He noted that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy mentioned that the goal is to create a buffer zone. These discussions are ongoing to learn more about Ukraine's objectives.
He reminded that the US goal is to enable Ukraine to become a free and sovereign country capable of deterring Russian aggression in the future.
Ryder added that through the operation in the Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders have demonstrated creativity and combat skills, forcing the Russians to work on a response.
As the Pentagon representative noted, the US is still discussing the long-term goals of the operation in the Kursk region with Ukraine.
