US Congress will not vote on aid to Ukraine until Trump's inauguration - Speaker Johnson
The US will not bring the issue of additional aid to Ukraine to a vote. Congress is awaiting instructions on this matter from the new commander-in-chief, states US House Speaker Mike Johnson, according to Holos Ameryky.
Johnson stated that he does not plan to bring additional aid to Ukraine to a vote.
"Joe Biden will not have to make such a decision. We have a newly elected president, we will wait and follow the instructions of the new commander-in-chief on all this," the Speaker noted.
It should be noted that the inauguration of the newly elected US President, Donald Trump, is scheduled for January 20, 2025.
Recently, Biden appealed to Congress for additional funding for Ukraine for 2025, mentioning an amount of $24 billion.
It is known that Biden's previous request to Congress for more than $60 billion in additional aid to Ukraine also faced opposition from Speaker Johnson in the US House of Representatives.
As a result, the consideration of this issue was delayed for six months, which led to difficulties on the front for Ukrainian military forces.
Currently, the Biden administration aims to spend all previously allocated funds for Ukraine before Trump's inauguration. Therefore, for continued support during Trump's presidency, the US Congress will need to allocate new funds.
