"President Trump is sending a strong and clear message to the entire world: if you illegally enter the United States of America, you will face severe consequences," Leavitt wrote on Twitter (X).
According to Fox News, the first flight departed from Biggs military base in Texas to Guatemala. The outlet notes that the plane shown in the photo can carry up to 80 people.
Sources from the outlet's Customs and Border Protection service reported that additional troops have also begun installing fences near the El Paso checkpoint.
Recently, US President Donald Trump ordered the Department of Defense to prepare a plan for troops to support the border mission.
The directive followed the announcement of a national emergency at the US-Mexico border.
On his first day in office, President Trump began by signing a series of executive orders related to energy, immigration policy, and national security. He also reversed several decisions made by the administration of Joe Biden.
