US deploys 1,000 troops to Mexico border, Sky News reports
The United States is strengthening its border with Mexico. It is planned to send a thousand US troops to the border between the countries, Sky News reports.
According to an anonymous US official, the US Army plans to send about 1,000 troops to the Mexico border.
The official did not specify when the deployment would take place but mentioned that the troops would join thousands of National Guard members already stationed at the border under US President Donald Trump's executive order on a state of emergency.
Trump has repeatedly promised to carry out the largest deportation in US history.
In preparation for a potential influx, Mexico has begun building massive tent shelters in Ciudad Juárez as part of the government's plan to establish centers in nine northern cities.
However, local official Enrique Licon described these plans as unprecedented, as the shelters are expected to be ready to accommodate thousands of people within days.
It is worth noting that yesterday, US President Donald Trump ordered the Department of Defense to prepare a plan for military support for the border mission.
The directive followed the declaration of a state of emergency at the US-Mexico border.
On his first day in office, President Trump signed a series of executive orders related to energy, immigration policy, and national security. He also overturned several decisions made by the Biden administration.
