US and Russia to issue joint statement after Riyadh talks, Media reports time

The US and Russia are preparing a joint statement following negotiations in Saudi Arabia. A ceasefire agreement in the Black Sea is under discussion, CBS reports.
In particular, the US and Russia plan to release a joint statement after negotiations in Saudi Arabia dedicated to a ceasefire agreement in the Black Sea.
According to CBS News sources, the document will be published on Tuesday at 4:00 a.m. Washington time.
While the content of the statement has not yet been disclosed, the American delegation in Riyadh has conveyed optimistic signals regarding the negotiations to Donald Trump’s administration.
Ukrainian officials have also been informed about the progress of the discussions.
A previous agreement with the mediation of the UN and Türkiye, from which Russia withdrew in 2023, allowed maritime transport in the Black Sea, enabling both countries to export grain.
American officials, including State Department representative Michael Anton and White House National Security Council member Andrew Peek, are participating in negotiations with Russian representatives.
Ceasefire negotiations between Russia and Ukraine
Last week, Russia rejected Trump's proposal for a 30-day full ceasefire in Ukraine, agreeing only to a "moratorium" on strikes against energy infrastructure. Despite this, Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities not only continue but have intensified.
During the Monday negotiations in Riyadh, Russian missiles struck Sumy, damaging several apartment buildings, a school, and a hospital. According to the latest reports, the number of victims has exceeded 90, including many children.
The White House stated that the primary goal of the negotiations in Saudi Arabia is to achieve a "maritime truce" in the Black Sea, allowing ships to move freely. Thanks to surface drones, Ukraine's Defense Forces have forced the Russian fleet to retreat deeper into the waters, effectively "trapping" it near naval bases. This has allowed Ukraine to resume exports through its ports.
A Kremlin representative said that the negotiations are focused on maritime security, as the previous UN-backed Black Sea agreement did not meet Moscow’s demands.
The US delegation in Riyadh was led by Senior Director of the National Security Council Andrew Peek and high-ranking State Department official Michael Anton. Russia was represented by Grigory Karasin, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, who described the talks as "creative" and touching on "sensitive issues" in bilateral relations.
White House National Security Advisor Mike Waltz told CBS that US, Russian, and Ukrainian delegations gathered in the same room in Riyadh. In addition to the Black Sea ceasefire, discussions included a "line of control" between the armies, verification mechanisms, peacekeeping efforts, and freezing positions.
According to media reports, US-Russia negotiations on March 24 lasted over 12 hours. A day earlier, US and Ukrainian delegations met in Saudi Arabia. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope that these talks would help advance toward real peace.
The US State Department noted that Ukraine and Russia are now closer to a ceasefire than ever before.
