The date for the negotiations was first mentioned by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov. According to him, the meeting was scheduled to take place at the level of the foreign ministries.

According to Russian media, the meeting will be held in Istanbul and will focus on the work of the diplomatic missions of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The negotiations will be the second round of Russian-American consultations.

The Russian delegation will be led by Russia's Ambassador to the US, Aleksandr Darchiyev, while the American delegation will be headed by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Eurasian Affairs Sonata Coulter. Representatives from the foreign ministries of both Russia and the US will also attend the meeting.

Negotiations on the war in Ukraine

Earlier, two rounds of negotiations between Ukraine and the US took place in Saudi Arabia, where a meeting between the US and Russian delegations also occurred. It is important to note that Ukraine and Russia are not holding direct negotiations regarding the end of the war.

As a result of the talks, Ukraine agreed to the US proposal for a ceasefire, but Russia did not provide a clear response, instead making demands.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that Washington does not want negotiations without progress and hinted that sanctions could be imposed on Russia if it does not take steps toward peace.

Recently, Russian President's envoy Kirill Dmitriev visited Washington. He became the first Russian official to visit the US in a long time after temporary sanctions were lifted against him.

Following his visit to the US, Dmitriev voiced an unexpected position on security guarantees for Ukraine.
