US and Israel to hold high-level consultations on Iran next week

Early next week, a high-ranking Israeli delegation may visit the White House. US and Israeli representatives will hold strategic consultations on Iran, Axios informs.
It is noted that this will be the first meeting of the US-Israel Strategic Consultative Group since Donald Trump took office as US president. This is the highest forum for US-Israeli discussions on Iran's nuclear program.
According to Israeli officials, the Israeli delegation will be led by Prime Minister Netanyahu’s top advisors — Minister for Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer and National Security Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi.
The delegation will also include senior representatives from the National Security Council, the armed forces, Mossad, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, and the Atomic Energy Commission.
They will meet with the US team led by Trump's National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, along with representatives from the State Department, the Pentagon, and the US intelligence community.
The meeting is expected to cover the war in Gaza and negotiations between Israel and Lebanon regarding the disputed border.
US-Israel-Iran relations
The United States provides significant military assistance to Israel. However, Washington has imposed certain restrictions on the transfer of some types of weaponry.
Recently, media reports indicated that the US State Department approved a potential sale of bombs, demolition kits, and other weaponry to Israel worth approximately $3 billion. As Reuters pointed out, this marks the second instance of rapid approval of arms sales by the US to a Middle Eastern country.
We also reported that US President Donald Trump wants to sign a new nuclear deal with Iran. A similar agreement was signed in 2015, but Trump withdrew the US from it in 2018.
