The United States and Iran are set to sign a peace agreement on June 19. The official ceremony will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, according to Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
The head of Pakistan's Foreign Ministry calls the upcoming agreement a significant breakthrough. According to him, this step will provide global markets and the economy with the necessary confidence and stability.
Ishaq Dar emphasizes that this is particularly important for developing countries, which are most vulnerable to regional conflicts.
The Pakistani Minister separately thanks the countries that provided diplomatic support to achieve this result. Among them, he notes Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Türkiye.
"We look forward to the formal signing ceremony on 19 June in Geneva and remain confident that this positive development will pave the way for enduring peace, stability and shared prosperity for the region and beyond," Ishaq Dar emphasizes.
US-Iran deal
Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that agreements had been reached between Washington and Tehran.
According to the American leader, the agreement provides for the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, the lifting of the naval blockade by the US Navy, and Iran’s renunciation of the development and acquisition of nuclear weapons.
Initially, Western media reported that the document was planned to be signed remotely due to logistical difficulties.
However, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs later denied reports that the agreement would be signed on Sunday.
Officials in Tehran noted that the exact date of the ceremony had not yet been agreed upon, but they did not rule out holding it in the near future.
