US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker arrived in Kyiv on an official visit on Tuesday, November 4.

Whitaker has already met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and subsequently made a statement regarding the war in Ukraine.

"I conveyed that this senseless war must end, and that peace – led by President Trump’s efforts – is the only viable path forward," Whitaker wrote.

Whitaker arrived in Ukraine for the first time the day before. During his visit, he led a delegation from the North Atlantic Alliance.

The US Ambassador to NATO has already met with the Defense Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.

Shmyhal says that the main topic of the meeting with the Ambassadors of NATO partner countries was Ukraine's needs for the coming winter. At the same time, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine provided detailed reports to their partners.

Whitaker's statements

Earlier, Whitaker said that possible deliveries of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, as well as a ban on Russia's shadow fleet, could push Vladimir Putin to peace talks.

He said the possibility of a deep strike could change Putin's calculations and threaten many things, including important energy infrastructure in Russia.

He also said that US President Donald Trump would impose new tough sanctions against Russia. They would force Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine.

According to the US Ambassador to NATO, this is just the beginning.

"President Trump holds all the cards, this is just one card that he's playing. There are many more," he says.
