Russian forces dropped unknown explosives on Nizhyn in the Chernihiv region. This is a new type of attack used by the occupiers, according to Nizhyn Mayor Oleksandr Kodola, as quoted by Suspilne.

According to him, on September 19, the occupiers dropped unknown explosive devices from drones onto one of the city’s central streets.

"This is a new type of attack; the Russians have not used anything like this before. Experts are still investigating what kind of explosives were used. Fortunately, no one was injured and no vehicles were damaged," Kodola said.

Strikes on Nizhyn

On September 14-15, Nizhyn experienced the largest attack since the start of the full-scale war. Air raid alerts in the Nizhyn community lasted continuously for more than 16 hours. The occupiers launched dozens of drones, some of which hit their targets.

According to the city’s mayor, Russian forces struck several critical infrastructure sites. One facility was hit twice, causing temporary power and water outages in parts of Nizhyn.

Additionally, on the night of September 21, Russian forces targeted rescuers in the Nizhyn district who were extinguishing a fire following a drone strike.
