Yesterday, Nizhyn came under the most powerful air attack by Russia since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The air raid alert in the city lasted for more than 16 hours non-stop, Nizhyn Mayor Oleksandr Kodola reports.

“Dozens of enemy drones attacked the Nizhyn community. Several critical infrastructure facilities were hit, and one enterprise suffered a double strike. As a result, certain districts of the city temporarily lost electricity and water supply,” Nizhyn Mayor said.

According to Kodola, the enemy also targeted a private oil depot, where a large-scale fire broke out. More than 20 firefighting vehicles were deployed to extinguish it.

When the fire was localized, the Russians launched another strike. As a result, three rescuers sustained shrapnel injuries. They are currently receiving treatment at the city hospital.

Local authorities and emergency services have already restored power and water supply, though the consequences of the attack are still being dealt with.

Earlier, Russian drones attacked Nizhyn, Chernihiv region, on Sunday, September 14. Debris from a UAV fell in the city center.

In the evening of September 14, the enemy also struck a private fuel-related enterprise in Nizhyn several times, as well as a nearby gas station.

During firefighting efforts, the aggressor launched another strike, injuring four employees of the State Emergency Service (SES).

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that the enemy fired three S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles and launched 84 drones of various types from five directions across Ukraine. Air defense forces shot down most of the targets, but some strikes were recorded.
