Recall that the last time Russian forces targeted rescuers in Nizhyn was on September 17 — the same day Ukraine celebrated Rescuer’s Day. During that attack, a 45-year-old emergency worker was killed from his injuries, and two other State Emergency Service (SES) personnel were wounded.
On the same day, the aggressor also struck an emergency unit in Donetsk region, but there were no casualties or injuries.
Additionally, on August 16, a Russian drone attacked SES personnel while they were extinguishing a fire in Zaporizhzhia — all firefighters remained unharmed.
Recently, Russian troops in Sumy region attacked rescuers and police officers. As a result, two rescuers, aged 33 and 28, were injured while responding to the aftermath of the enemy attack. Two police officers who arrived at the site of the earlier strike were also wounded.
