Unknown drone explodes in Kazakhstan near Russian border: details emerge
In Kazakhstan's Burlin district, which borders Russia, an explosion of an unmanned aerial vehicle was recorded. Its origin remains unknown, according to the Kazakh Ministry of Defense.
"In the Burlin district of the West Kazakhstan region, the explosion of an unidentified drone has been recorded," the ministry said in a statement.
According to the ministry, the debris fell in a remote, uninhabited area. There were no casualties or damage.
At present, the ministry, together with other authorized state bodies, is conducting inspections to determine the circumstances of the incident and the drone's origin.
"The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan has taken additional measures to strengthen control over the airspace and prevent unauthorized crossings of the state border by aerial objects," the statement added.
The ministry also noted that consultations are being held with partners to determine to whom the drone may potentially belong.
Russian drones are violating other countries' airspace
Russian drones have repeatedly violated the airspace of European countries.
The largest incident occurred in September, when 19 drones entered Polish airspace, most flying from the direction of Belarus.
Polish authorities said it was a deliberate provocation, and NATO fighter jets were scrambled to destroy the drones.
Earlier, on September 13, a Russian drone violated Romania's airspace, prompting F-16 fighters to take off for interception.
