Ukraine and the United Kingdom have signed a licensing agreement for the production of the Ukrainian Octopus interceptor drone, according to Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal.

"Together with our allies, we are developing Ukraine's air defense capabilities. Delegations from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense and the British Ministry of Defense have signed a licensing agreement for the Ukrainian Octopus interceptor drone," Shmyhal says.

According to him, this is a historic precedent and an important next step that will allow Ukraine to produce interceptors in the UK, which have proven their effectiveness in combating Shahed drones.

The Minister notes that mass production of interceptors is planned, which could reach several thousand per month. The manufactured equipment will be transferred to Ukraine to strengthen its air defense.

Production of Octopus interceptor drones

In early November, it became known that Ukraine had launched serial production of the Octopus interceptor drone, designed to counter Russian Shahed strike drones.

Three manufacturers have already received the technology necessary to produce Octopus drones. Another 11 manufacturers are preparing production lines for them.

Octopus is a Ukrainian small unmanned interceptor designed to intercept and destroy disposable Shahed-type strike drones and similar ones. The system has already proven its effectiveness on the battlefield and has become the basis for an international industrial program for mass production.

Ukraine and the United Kingdom jointly produce the drones.

Ukraine, in cooperation with the United States, has also begun producing interceptor drones capable of combating Russian strike drones, but it is unknown whether these are Octopus drones.
