Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that experts from UNESCO will visit Lviv to document the destruction following a Russian strike on a cultural heritage site, Minister Sybiha made the statement on the air of the My Ukraina (We Are Ukraine) TV channel, according to Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry.

According to him, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already reached an agreement with the organization’s specialists regarding the visit.

"Russia did not simply strike buildings in the center of Lviv. This is a strike against UNESCO World Heritage. It is a strike directly against UNESCO as an organization. It is a strike against everyone in the world who cares about cultural heritage. We demand strong reactions," Sybiha stressed.

The foreign minister also said that Ukraine had appealed to UNESCO to initiate cultural sanctions against Russia.

"Russia is a terrorist state, and Russians are barbarians. This is how European colleagues assess what has happened," the diplomat concluded.

On the evening of March 24, Russian drones attacked the western regions of Ukraine.

In Lviv, strikes were recorded on residential buildings at Soborna Square, Brativ Rohatyntsiv Street, and Chervonoi Kalyny Street.

As a result of the attack, people were injured, and sites included on the UNESCO World Heritage List were also damaged.
