UN responds to Russian strike on a demining mission near Chernihiv

The United Nations (UN) is shocked by the Russian strike on a demining humanitarian mission on the outskirts of Chernihiv during the day on September 4, according to a
"I am shocked by the tragic news that two of our colleagues from the Danish Refugee Council have been killed, and eight others injured while carrying out their duties as a result of today’s strike by the Russian Armed Forces in Chernihiv region," Schmale said.
He noted that his colleagues dedicated their lives to helping people in Ukraine who are suffering from the devastating effects of the war, often putting themselves at risk.
Just this year, even before today’s strike, at least four humanitarian workers have already been killed in Ukraine, and 34 others have been injured.
"Civilians and those assisting them must be protected under international humanitarian law. They should never be targeted," emphasized the humanitarian coordinator.
Rocket strike on Chernihiv
Earlier today, on September 4, Russian forces carried out a missile strike on a checkpoint at the entrance to the settlement of Novoselivka near Chernihiv.
According to the head of the Ministry for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories, the Russian forces targeted employees of a demining humanitarian mission who were carrying out work to clear the area of mines and other explosive devices.
Chernihiv Regional Military Administration head Vyacheslav Chaus clarified that this was a targeted strike on workers of the demining humanitarian mission of the Danish Refugee Council. The missile hit the Kyselivka community, located near Chernihiv.
Currently, two people are confirmed dead and five are injured as a result of the enemy strike.
