Ukrainian defenders have cleared Russian soldiers from the Yuvileinyi residential area in Kupiansk, a location of strategic importance for the defense of the town, according to the 425th Separate Assault Regiment Skelia.

"Kupiansk, Yuvileinyi residential area. This district is strategically important for the entire defense of the town. It is located on a commanding height. Controlling this location means controlling Kupiansk," the regiment stated.

The unit clarified that Russian forces had managed to penetrate deep into Ukrainian positions and occupy several high-rise buildings in the district. This created a dangerous situation, as the enemy threatened the entire defense logistics of the town. The use of a key logistical route passing through this residential area was also at risk.

As Russian soldiers advanced within Kupiansk, they began accumulating in the high-rises and planned to move further toward Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, creating a threat of occupation. Ukrainian forces responded accordingly.

During the assault, Ukrainian defenders decided to plant explosives and demolish the building where the largest concentration of Russian soldiers was located. One entrance collapsed as a result of the blast, opening the way to clear the remaining buildings in the district.

Successful operation in Kupiansk

Earlier, the National Guard’s Khartiia Corps reported that Ukrainian defenders had fully blocked enemy approaches to Kupiansk.

The group of Russian soldiers remaining inside the town was encircled.

Currently, over 200 Russian soldiers remain in Kupiansk.

Additionally, the villages of Kindrashivka and Radkivka were liberated from the Russian troops in the Kupiansk direction.
