Ceasefire in Ukraine through Chinese mediation is impossible. Ukraine will not come to the negotiating table until Russian forces leave the occupied territories, according to Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

Danilov commented on the strengthening of ties between Russia and China. In his opinion, Moscow has "lost its independence and now has to rely on countries like China, North Korea and Iran". However, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine dismissed the possibility of a ceasefire through Chinese mediation.

"There are no negotiations worth having as long as Russia continues to occupy (Ukrainian) territory, including Crimea," Danilov added.

He referred to the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin as a "terrorist" and stated that "modern Hitler by the name of Putin killed 500 of our children."

China's position on the war

The Chinese authorities officially claim to maintain a neutral position regarding Russia's war against Ukraine. China has also been previously suspected of supplying weapons to Russia, although Beijing denies these allegations. The Pentagon recently released a report demonstrating that Russia is extensively purchasing drones, small arms, and protective equipment from China.

China is not providing military assistance to Ukraine and refers to Russia's invasion as a "conflict."

However, Beijing has expressed its desire to act as a peacemaker and presented its peace plan, although it has faced criticism from Ukraine, the EU, and the US.
