Ukrainian Sumy rocked by Shahed drone strike: Power outages, blazes, and casualties

In Sumy, due to a Russian drone attack, power outages occurred in some parts of the city, enterprises were damaged, and fires broke out. One person has been reported injured, according to Artem Kobzar, acting mayor of Sumy, and the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
In the morning, the acting mayor of Sumy, in a video address, reported that two enterprises within the city were hit during the Russian air attack. The enemy used strike drones of the Shahed type.
According to Kobzar, there were five hits recorded at one facility and two at the other.
It is also reported that there is no information about possible casualties or fatalities. All necessary services are working on site.
Meanwhile, the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov, reported that preliminary information indicates one person injured in the city.
He noted that Sumy was under attack by Russian drones in the morning.
“There were hits on industrial facilities, power lines were damaged. Fires broke out as a result of the strikes,” the official said.
The head of the administration added that part of the regional center is without electricity.
“Emergency recovery work is ongoing. All necessary services are working on site,” he said.
The Sumy Regional Military Administration also shared photos showing the aftermath of the enemy drone attack on the city, including a large fire.
As previously reported, during the night amid the drone attack in Sumy, a series of explosions were heard. Local channels also reported power outages in the city.
Russian forces also attempted to attack Kyiv with Shahed drones — air defense systems were actively working in the capital. Additionally, hostile strike drones were shot down in the Kyiv region.
The day before, Russian forces struck the city of Shostka in the Sumy region with a missile. The regional military administration reported damage to the infrastructure of one enterprise, and an emergency rescue operation began in the city.
Furthermore, on the night of May 20, the Russian army attacked the Bilopillia and Yunakivka communities in the Sumy region with drones and aerial bombs. A large fire broke out at one civilian site as a result of the attack.
