The tech world is seeing more and more solutions designed to make life easier for people with disabilities. The Ukrainian startup EYA has developed a unique application that allows those who cannot speak to communicate.

What problem is the startup trying to solve

Communication is a basic human right. However, millions of people are deprived of it: children with disabilities, people after a stroke, and wounded soldiers.

Existing solutions for alternative communication are expensive - specialized devices cost 15,000 euros for the ability to say "hello" or "I love you."

Over the past four years, only 10 children out of thousands in need have received such devices in Ukraine.

But even the most expensive technologies have the same drawbacks as standard apps: the communication process remains slow and unnatural. To express a simple desire, a child has to spend minutes searching for the right words.

That's why a Ukrainian development team has created an innovative alternative communication app that aims to solve these problems.

What is the main difference between the EYA approach and traditional solutions

This tool uses a personalized approach to communication.

Most modern solutions require the child to search for the right words by selecting cards on the screen (with their hands or with their eyes). To make a sentence, you have to scroll, search, scroll again, and so on.

In this case, the system analyzes the context of communication - previous conversations, time of day, location, topic of the dialog - and suggests the most relevant words. This significantly speeds up the communication process.

In addition, together with Ukrainian partners, we plan to use professional speech synthesis to make children's voices sound natural.

In addition to the main communication function, the developers want to adapt the system to curricula so that it can be easily used in schools and universities. This will allow more children to learn, develop, and integrate into society.

This creates a truly inclusive environment that benefits everyone.

How can EYA change the lives of people with disabilities

Alternative communication sources (ACS) help socialize children and promote their development and adaptation.

The Ukrainian initiative focuses not only on technological solutions but also on educational work. The creators want to show how you can start communicating and learning using available innovations.

This will help thousands of families establish communication with their children.

How does iOS 18's gaze control support help users with disabilities

For people who cannot use their hands, gaze control is a vital function.

Today, specialized devices for such users cost about 15,000 euros, and over the past four years, only 10 Ukrainian children have received them with the support of UNICEF.

Now, thanks to iOS 18, this technology is becoming available to everyone, opening up new opportunities for communication and socialization.
