Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze believes that the Security Service of Ukraine is allegedly involved in preparing a coup in the country, Kobakhidze said, as reported by Georgia Online.

"As for the possible connection with those internal political events that are unfolding in the country, including the announced overthrow, you see that the opposition is absolutely in despair, it is weakened, and this is the main reason. At such times any provocation is possible," Kobakhidze said, commenting on the alleged involvement of the SBU in bringing explosives into Georgia.

He added that such an issue requires special attention.

According to Kobakhidze, any such fact must be fully investigated, and in Georgia "it must be established who needed to bring unrest into the country."

Rumors about explosives

On September 11, the Georgian State Security Service stated that it had detained two Ukrainians who allegedly wanted to bring 2.4 kg of hexogen (explosives) into Georgian territory.

According to the Georgian law enforcement version, a Mercedes-Benz truck with Ukrainian registration numbers arrived in Georgia from Türkiye, traveling along a route from Ukraine through Romania and Bulgaria. The hexogen was allegedly discovered in hidden and carefully camouflaged compartments.

Already today, on September 12, the Georgian State Security Service declared that the explosives had allegedly been handed over to the Ukrainians by the Security Service of Ukraine.

For reference, on February 5, 2024, the Georgian State Security Service had already reported a similar incident. The law enforcement officers claimed that they had seized explosives being transported from Odesa to Voronezh.
