Ukrainian rhythmic gymnast makes history with first ever World Cup win

Ukrainian athlete, Taisiia Onofriichuk, has etched her name in the history of global rhythmic gymnastics by winning the overall World Cup title in the individual all-around for the 2025 season. This marks the first such victory for Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian Gymnastics Federation's website.
What is known about Onofriichuk's achievement
The fourth stage of the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup has just concluded in Milan. As a result, the Ukrainian team earned three medals and claimed the World Cup title. All of these achievements belong to Taisiia.
The 17-year-old athlete became the first Ukrainian in history to win the overall World Cup standings in rhythmic gymnastics all-around.
She also took home silver medals in the hoop and ribbon events, and a bronze medal in the all-around.
This was Onofriichuk's third podium finish of the season in the World Cup all-around: she previously won gold in Sofia and silver in Baku. She skipped the third stage in Tashkent.
Notably, the young gymnast outperformed the season's top contenders, including Olympic champion Daria Varfolomeev, beating her by 10 points.
In total, during the 2025 World Cup season, Onofriichuk claimed 12 medals: 4 gold, 6 silver, and 2 bronze.

What's next?
This victory adds to her historic results at the 2025 European Championships, where she brought Ukraine its first gold in the all-around in 28 years, and made the podium three more times in individual apparatus events.
The biggest competition of the year for Taisiia will be the World Championships, scheduled for August 20–24 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Ukrainian gymnast heads into the event as one of the top favorites.
