Ukrainian Parliament's Committee backs extension of martial law and mobilization
The Parliament's Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence recommended extending martial law and mobilization in Ukraine for another 90 days, according to the MP from the "Voice" faction, Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
"The Committee on Defense supported the approval by the parliament of Decrees (10457 and 10456) on the extension of martial law. Votes 'for' 18. The decision was unanimously adopted," he said.
According to him, it is proposed to extend martial law and mobilization in Ukraine from February 14, 2023, for 90 days, until May 13, 2024.
"Further approval is needed from the Parliament, where the vote is scheduled for today," the MP added.
Martial law and mobilization in Ukraine
Mobilization in Ukraine was announced after the massive invasion of the Russian Federation in February 2022. Martial law was also introduced at that time. Both mobilization and martial law have been extended several times, most recently for 90 days. In particular, their terms were last extended in November until February 14, 2024.
