Zelenskyy holds talks with Trump and Rutte: Protection against Russian strikes discussed

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump, according to the head of state on Telegram.
Conversation with Trump
According to Zelenskyy, he had a "very good conversation' with Trump, during which the parties discussed continued support for Ukraine, the need to strengthen security, and achieving a just peace.
"Thank you for your willingness to support Ukraine and continue working together to stop the killings and establish a lasting and just peace," Zelenskyy emphasized.
He also said that Trump spoke about his meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. Zelenskyy highlighted the importance of good relations with the Alliance countries and noted that the allies are trying to increase defense spending.
The parties touched upon the necessary means and decisions to strengthen the protection of Ukrainians from Russian strikes. "We are ready to work as productively as possible to achieve peace," Zelenskyy stated.
Zelenskyy also said that he and Trump agreed to have more frequent contacts and coordinate further actions. In closing, he thanked the American leader, "Thank you, Mr. President! Thank you, America!"
Conversation with Rutte
Zelenskyy also stated that he had a conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
"A very good conversation as well. Mark informed me about today’s meeting in Washington with President Trump and the details of cooperation between Europe and the United States to continue and strengthen support for Ukraine," Zelenskyy wrote.
According to him, Ukraine appreciates the willingness to provide additional Patriot systems, and America, Germany, and Norway are already working together on this.
"There will also be deliveries of other weapons to protect the lives of our people and repel Russian assaults. It is important to increase pressure on Russia for peace and to save lives. Thank you, Mark," Zelenskyy wrote.
Patriot for Ukraine
Ukraine is currently continuing negotiations to purchase Patriot air defense systems. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has previously emphasized the country’s readiness to buy these systems along with missiles from the United States.
Today, Donald Trump announced that the shipment of 17 Patriot systems to Ukraine is being prepared, and they will arrive within a few days.
