Ukrainian Parliament discusses possibility of men under 24 traveling abroad

Men aged 18 to 24 may be allowed to travel outside Ukraine. This initiative is being discussed in the parliament by the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk.
"The Ukrainian parliament consists of 398 people with the right of legislative initiative. There are a lot of initiatives in the parliament. I know that this topic is being discussed, including at the level of a special committee," the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada says.
According to him, there are ideas in the parliament regarding the departure of men under 24, but it is not yet known what the decision of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence will be.
"People between the ages of 18 and 25 are those who are not subject to mobilization, but are not able to exercise one of their rights. Therefore, we must find a mechanism to enable them to realize all these rights. I will wait for the committee to find a mechanism. Some members of the committee are working on liberalization," Stefanchuk adds.
Men traveling abroad
During martial law, men aged 18 to 60 were not allowed to travel outside Ukraine. However, some categories of persons liable for military service are allowed to travel abroad. Read more about this in an article by RBC-Ukraine.
However, in May, MP Fedir Venislavskyi, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, reported that Ukraine may reconsider the approach to the departure of men under the age of 24.
According to him, the idea of not restricting the movement of such citizens is being discussed. The MP noted that in the short term, there will be legislative initiatives in the parliament.
