Ukraine may establish military commandant offices in the Kursk region, as this will be necessary for providing humanitarian aid to local residents, according to a statement by the Verkhovna Rada's Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets.

He reminded that during today's meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the issue of military command posts was discussed.

"(This was discussed - ed.) to ensure coordination among the military units present there, including for the voluntary role of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in providing humanitarian aid to the local population, it will be necessary to establish military command posts," Lubinets noted.

He explained that whether military commandant offices will be established or not will be decided by Ukraine's military command. This issue is discussed solely based on international law.

It is worth noting that a military commandant office is an entity operating in a specific region or zone and is responsible for military matters.

In particular, its scope of activities includes: interaction with local authorities, organizing security at important sites, and ensuring that the military is provided with all necessary resources.
