According to Syrskyi, Ukraine’s Defense Forces are actively conducting offensive and counteroffensive operations. In certain sectors, nearly one quarter of all combat clashes involve Ukrainian units advancing.
“The goal is to keep the enemy under constant pressure, inflict losses, and prevent any forward movement,” the commander-in-chief said.
He added that this tactic is delivering results, noting that “in January, the enemy achieved no significant operational successes.”
Situation on the frontline
According to the General Staff, a total of 152 combat engagements were recorded over the past day, February 5. The most intense fighting continues along the Huliaipole and Pokrovsk directions.
Recently, Russian forces launched a mechanized assault on the village of Hryshyne in the Pokrovsk direction, but Ukraine’s Defense Forces repelled the attack, destroying enemy armored vehicles and eliminating Russian troops.
Meanwhile, in the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian forces thwarted an attempted Russian landing on Kruhlyk Island in the Kherson region.
On the previous day, US Permanent Representative to NATO Matthew Whitaker stated that Washington would continue supplying Kyiv with offensive weapons until a peace agreement is signed.
