Ukrainian Defense Forces stopped a Russian attempt to land on Kruhkyk Island in the Kherson region, says Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"One combat engagement was recorded in the Prydniprovskyi direction over the past day. Russians attempted to land on Kruhlyk Island and storm our positions there, but the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed them," Voloshyn says.

According to him, Russian activity in this direction remains high: over the past day, the Russian troops carried out about 400 strikes with kamikaze drones on Kherson and nearby settlements, as well as about a hundred artillery strikes.
"Russia is conducting local assault operations on the Antonivskyi bridges and the islands of Bilohrudyi and Kruhlyk, which are more reminiscent of reconnaissance by combat groups and checking the density of defenses," the spokesperson adds.
Fighting in Kherson region
Earlier, the Ukrainian Defense Forces reported that Russian troops had partially withdrawn from certain positions on Oleksiivskyi Island near Oleshky on the left bank of the Kherson region.
As reported by the Southern Defense Forces on January 25, the Russian army is conducting reconnaissance of the Dnipro coast and straits, striking identified targets and settlements on the right bank.
