Ukraine is creating its own ballistic missile that will strike Russian territory. This will fundamentally change Ukraine's status in the world, according to an interview with Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov to the TSN television channel.
What Fedorov said
The minister confirmed: a Ukrainian ballistic missile will emerge and will strike targets in Russia. He did not disclose any details.
"Ukrainian ballistic missiles will change everything in this war. They will fundamentally change Ukraine's status in the world. We've already changed it many times, but this is a completely different league," he stated.
Fedorov explained why he isn't saying more: he doesn't want to raise expectations or tip off the enemy.
Instead, he referred to the president.
"Here I can only quote our president that Ukrainian ballistic missiles will exist and they will strike Russia," the minister said.
Fedorov's statement came against the backdrop of real developments. The Ukrainian company Fire Point has fully completed work on the FP-7.x anti-ballistic missile – it has already passed tests. Previously, the company's founder, Shtilerman, stated that the Ukrainian ballistic missiles FP-7 and FP-9 would become analogues of the American ATACMS, but at half the cost.
Domestic developments are especially important given the shortage of foreign missiles. The Air Force has reported a critical shortage of ammunition for the Patriot, NASAMS, and IRIS-T systems; in some units, ammunition stocks are nearly depleted, and Air Force representatives have to beg for 5–10 missiles at a time.
