Ukrainian forces struck two Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers at the Marinovka airfield in Russia's Volgograd region using a Neptune coastal missile launcher, according to the Ukrainian Navy.

"As a result of the strike, two Su-34 frontline fighter-bombers were destroyed at the 11th Mixed Aviation Regiment's base in the settlement of Oktyabrsky, Volgograd region, which is part of the 4th Air Force and Air Defense Army's 4th Mixed Aviation Division," the statement said.

The Ukrainian military noted that the Su-34 is a key platform in Russia's tactical aviation.

In particular, Russian forces use these aircraft to launch guided aerial bombs against Ukrainian cities, Ukrainian Defense Forces positions, and frontline areas.

"The Ukrainian Navy continues to strike the enemy's military facilities, reducing its ability to wage war against Ukraine," the Navy stressed.

As previously reported, since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost 43 Su-34 aircraft of various modifications, while another seven have been damaged.

Notably, on the night of October 15, the Ukrainian Navy struck a Russian airfield in the Voronezh region. The attack destroyed six Su-34M fighter-bombers.

Later, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the Su-34 aircraft hit on October 15 had been preparing for new strikes against Ukraine.
