Secretary of Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov said he will provide Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on December 8 with details of the US negotiations with Russia, as well as draft proposals for the peace plan, according to Umerov.
"The primary task of the Ukrainian team was to obtain from the American side complete information about their conversation in Moscow and all drafts of current proposals in order to discuss them in detail with the President of Ukraine," Umerov wrote on X.
Umerov emphasized that Ukraine, together with all partners, must do everything to bring the full-scale war to a proper conclusion.
"Today, we will provide the President of Ukraine with full information on all aspects of the dialogue with the American side and all documents," the NSDC Secretary stressed.
US peace plan
The US has not yet released the official content of its peace plan for ending Russia's war against Ukraine. Western media reports that the original version included 28 points.
According to unofficial information, the draft contained strict demands for Ukraine, including that Kyiv would have to withdraw its troops from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, effectively handing them over to Russia without fighting.
The plan also reportedly included a ban on Ukraine joining NATO, with the country expected to legally establish a neutral status.
According to Axios, during Saturday's talks with US President Donald Trump's advisers Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Zelenskyy discussed two key issues: territory and security guarantees. Sources say the first issue is complicated, but there has been progress on the second.
On December 8, the leaders of Germany, France, and the UK, during a meeting with Zelenskyy in London, emphasized the need for a fair and lasting peace.
Bloomberg reports that European leaders are trying to convince Zelenskyy not to agree to a potential deal withdrawing Ukrainian forces from Donbas without reliable security guarantees from the US.
