Leaders of Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, during a meeting with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in London, emphasized the need for a "just and lasting" peace, Sky News informs.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that "matters for Ukraine are for Ukraine." According to him, today’s talks represent a "critical stage of the push for peace."

He also emphasized the need for a "just and lasting" peaceful settlement for Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Ukraine’s allies for organizing the meeting and stressed that unity between Europe, Ukraine, and the US is important. He also noted that today the leaders of the four countries need to make "important decisions."

The Ukrainian leader said, "Things that are very important for today are... unity between Europe, Ukraine and US."

"The Russian economy is starting to suffer, especially after our latest sanctions," said French President Emmanuel Macron.

The French leader noted that, together with other countries, he supports Ukraine, "We all support Ukraine and we all support peace."

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that he is "sceptical about some of the details in documents coming from the US."

He says, "This could be a decisive time for all of us, so we are trying to continue our support for Ukraine... the destiny of this country (Ukraine) is the destiny of Europe".

US peace plan

Recently, a series of meetings took place in the US involving Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Andrii Hnatov with US special envoys for peace, Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

The sixth round of talks in the past two weeks focused on advancing a "realistic and effective path toward a lasting and just peace" in Ukraine.

On December 6, Volodymyr Zelenskyy held an extended discussion with Trump’s advisors, Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner, regarding the US peace plan.
