Ukrainian Navy confirms number of Shahed drones shot down overnight

On the night of July 28, the Ukrainian Navy intercepted and destroyed two enemy Shahed attack drones during a Russian attack, according to the Navy's Telegram channel.
“Tonight, during an air raid by Russian occupiers, the Ukrainian Navy shot down 2 enemy kamikaze drones SHAHED-136,” the statement reads.
The Navy added that, together with other branches of the Defense Forces, they continue to destroy the enemy on land, at sea, and in the air.
Night attack on Ukraine - July 28
During the night, Russian forces launched a massive new assault on Ukraine. Starting from the evening, they deployed multiple waves of Shahed attack drones, with several groups of hostile drones entering Ukrainian airspace.
Explosions were first heard in Kyiv shortly before midnight. Mayor Vitalii Klitschko reported that air defense systems were actively engaged.
Throughout the night, repeated explosions rocked both Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia. In Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district, windows were blown out of a multi-story residential building, resulting in injuries, including a child. The regional military administration reported eight wounded, while Klitschko mentioned five injured.
Kropyvnytskyi also experienced a series of explosions. The Kirovohrad regional military administration confirmed the city was subjected to an enemy drone attack, and emergency services were dispatched to impact sites.
Closer to dawn, at 4:02 a.m. Kyiv time, the Ukrainian Air Forces reported the launch of enemy missiles, prompting air raid alerts across western regions of Ukraine.
