Ukrainian National Guard soldiers conduct first robotic operation
At the beginning of December, the 13th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine Khartiia conducted its first fully robotic operation against Russian military forces in the Kharkiv direction. The operation is aimed at protecting the lives of soldiers on the front lines, states Volodymyr Dehtiariov, a representative of the National Guard`s Khartiia Brigade public relations service.
He explained that the soldiers combined ground robots with various types of drones to create conditions for the brigade's units to advance on the battlefield.
"The task was to combine ground robotic systems, different types of drones, strike FPV drones, and reconnaissance drones with the operation of ground robotic complexes. Mobile turrets with machine guns, and kamikaze drones were also used, tasked with approaching and detonating, for example, enemy fortifications," said the representative of Khartiia.
According to Dehtiariov, the purpose of the robotic complex is to reduce the risk to the lives of service members, particularly in logistics, demining, and mining, as well as ensuring precise hits.
He explained, "This relates to logistics, for example, delivering infantry, ammunition, water, power banks, and fuel to combat positions. It also concerns remote demining and mining to prevent the enemy from approaching our positions. It’s about more accurate hits. For example, drops from large multicopters are more precise than artillery fire."
Regarding weather conditions and their impact on combat operations, the spokesperson for Khartiia said that the unit began preparing for winter back in July.
"We were preparing positions, training soldiers, and maintaining equipment. So, we can say that we are better prepared now. Currently, the Russians are using a tactic called infiltration, sending small groups with the task of getting somewhere, drawing fire, and exposing our combat positions," he reported.
Since the beginning of the day on December 16th, and as of the evening, there have been 226 combat encounters on the front. The number of battles in the Kursk region has sharply increased compared to the previous day, now exceeding 70, compared to 26 recorded on Sunday evening.
