Ukrainian National Guard consolidate positions in Urozhaine amid Russian attacks
Units of the National Guard have consolidated their positions on the achieved frontlines after the liberation of Urozhaine in the Donetsk region. Meanwhile, the Russians are attempting an attack to regain the lost ground, according to Deputy Director of the Planning Application Department of the National Guard's General Staff, Colonel Mykola Urshalovych.
According to Urshalovych, on the Berdiansk direction, within the span of a week, mortar units from the 2nd Galician Brigade, as well as units from the 31st Brigade and the 32nd Regiment of the National Guard, provided support to the Defense Forces, which resulted in the assault groups liberating Urozhaine.
"Units of the National Guard conducted clearance and demining of the liberated town. Currently, they have entrenched themselves on the achieved frontlines and are repelling counterattacks from the enemy's assault groups which are attempting to restore the lost position," added the Deputy Director of the Planning Application Department of the National Guard's General Staff.
Liberation of Urozhaine
On August 16, Ukrainian soldiers liberated the town of Urozhaine near Staromaiorsk in the Donetsk region. As noted by Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Defense, Hanna Maliar, the offensive operations are ongoing.
The following day, August 17, the last civilians were evacuated from the town.
