Ukrainian engineering units eliminated nearly 1,000 Russian troops last month. The miners are now operating safely using drones and remote mining, allowing them to hit enemy forces without exposing themselves to danger, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
During December, the Engineering Troops of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with units from the Ground Forces, the Unmanned Systems Forces, and Air Assault Forces, successfully carried out combat missions in their areas of responsibility.
By the end of December 2025, 946 enemy troops, 197 pieces of weapons and military equipment, and 74 other targets were neutralized.
"Modern warfare is a war of technology. Drones and robotic systems allow our miners to act effectively and safely, minimizing risks to life," the General Staff said.
Most strikes were carried out via remote mining using drones, allowing Ukrainian forces to quickly block enemy advance routes and precisely target hostile forces.
Each neutralized target is recorded in real time and entered into the Delta system, ensuring accurate data.
"Previously, miners had to enter dangerous areas manually. Now we can complete tasks quickly and safely," the General Staff added.
Engineering units continue to strengthen defensive lines, create new fortifications, and inflict losses on the enemy in close coordination with other Ukrainian defense forces.
Russia's losses in Ukraine
According to operational data from the Ukrainian General Staff, Russia's total personnel losses in the war are now approaching 1,225,590 troops.
In just the past 24 hours, Ukrainian defenders eliminated over 1,100 Russian soldiers.
Beyond personnel losses, the enemy suffers massive equipment losses: since the start of the full-scale invasion, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 11,569 tanks, 23,914 armored combat vehicles, 36,261 artillery systems, and 1,615 multiple launch rocket systems.
Earlier, British intelligence reported on Russian army losses in the war against Ukraine, noting a sharp increase in personnel casualties amid Russia's intensified offensive operations at the end of 2025.
