Ukrainian military reports that Russia increased number of missile carriers in Black Sea today
On the morning of August 6, Russia deployed two warships equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles to combat duty in the Black Sea. The previous day, only one Russian missile carrier was observed in this area, according to the Ukrainian Navy.
The military specified that the Russian naval group in the Black Sea could launch up to 8 Kalibr missiles in a single salvo for a potential strike.
Meanwhile, no enemy vessels have been detected in the Sea of Azov.
In the Mediterranean Sea, two Russian ships have been observed, one of which is equipped with Kalibr missiles capable of a total salvo of up to 16 missiles.
The Ukrainian Navy reported that over the past day, the following vessels passed through the Kerch Strait in the interests of Russia:
- Six ships entered the Black Sea, with three continuing towards the Bosphorus Strait.
- Nine ships entered the Sea of Azov, with none coming from the Bosphorus Strait.
Additionally, the military noted that Russia continues to violate the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) 1974 by disabling Automatic Identification Systems (AIS).
Earlier reports indicated that on the morning of August 5, one Russian missile carrier ship armed with Kalibr missiles was present in the Black Sea.
Furthermore, Ukrainian Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk stated on July 24 that no Russian military vessels remained in the Sea of Azov, as the enemy might have become suspicious.
Recent updates also mentioned that Russian forces have shifted their focus to submarines rather than surface ships.
